I am so much more than just a headline, hashtag or statistic. I was loved immensely by my parents, grandparents, my siblings, my five children and my extended family.
I was only 30 and a woman with dreams of growing old with my siblings, of watching my children and my nieces and nephews grow to become who they are meant to be.
I loved playing basketball, camping and fishing as a kid. As an adult, I loved football, music, traveling, seeing new places, creative expression through art, being with family and hanging out with my friends. I had a great sense of humor and compassion.
I worked at a local casino for several years where I worked my way up from Housekeeping to a Cage Cashier and finally a Cashier Cage Manager.
I loved my job, the people I worked with and the ability to support my children on my own. I was eventually layed off during the first round of shut downs and layoffs once Covid first hit.
In Honor and Remembrance of Skye and all of our Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives and their families. We'll never forget you.
